The smoothness of Soderbergh's concoction, often smug yet mostly rather charming, has been replaced with a bland impersonality, the work of a disinterested hired hand. The film is both a continuation and a spin-off from Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy and features an ensemble cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett. The movie was right in front of me being amazingly smug about itself and its characters, revealing something with a few breadcrumb clues but so out of nowhere that it feels very out of There is plenty of fun to be had with Oceans Eight. The characters are fun, lively and just plain enjoyable to be around.
